Merchandising Specialist

The Merchandising Specialist is responsible for managing the promotion of the business’ products, and arranging creative displays both in the physical store and on the company website to increase customer purchasing revenues and profitability. Merchandising Specialists assist in the development of marketing campaigns, as well as facilitating promotional offers on different communication channels. They also monitor stock inventories and research the current market trends, identifying business opportunities to meet customers’ demands and improve the negotiation process. From time to time, you may accompany team members to trade shows which will allow you the opportunity to have an international perspective.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring sales and identifying any losses or stock wastage
  • Working with suppliers and distributors to negotiate prices and work with/through the purchasing department to order large volumes.
  • Collaborate with executives, marketers, and salespeople to set prices that are good for the market and profit
  • Reviewing customer feedback to predict sales trends and seasonal stock demand
  • Researching and monitoring industry trends and consumer behavior to anticipate demand and changes in buying patterns
  • Making predictions based on sales data, customer feedback, and market trends
  • Optimize product placement by designing an effective planogram
  • Reviewing competitors, including pricing, profit, marketing, and other progress
  • Provide support and product training to floor staff
  • Ensure endcaps are strategically placed for the enhancement of sales
  • Optimize both virtual and local stores using strategies of the store marketing mix
  • Provide monthly report to reflect the improvement of sales due to your strategies and implementation
  • Assist and provide support for DIY demos

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Masters, specialized in Marketing
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar or related field;
  • Strong knowledge of Inventory management
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Prior merchandising experience
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Certificate in Health and Safety will be an asset
  • Supervisory Management will be an asset
  • Must be able to work on Saturdays
