The Customs Clerk II is responsible for ensuring all Government trade regulations are followed in the processing and clearing of cargo with full knowledge of the customs regulations and procedures, as well as shipping and insurance requirements for clearances of cargo/containers at the Ports, Airport, and Bonds for both imports and exports.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Clear shipments (air and ocean) at all ports of entry.
- Prepare Trinidad & Tobago Bureau of Standards inspection fees.
- Collect shipping documents from agents (air and ocean).
- Certify cheques at commercial banks.
- Prepare documents and/or review them for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare all import and export declarations.
- Enter data in the TTBizLink & port of the POS NAVIS system.
- Obtaining releases from relevant government agencies.
- Review shipping and customs documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Accurately generate documents in ACE & ASYCUDA.
- Assist with the acquisition of Agency releases.
- Issue payment vouchers and deliver cheques to Customs House, Airport, and Carrier Agents for duties and taxes.
- Lodge Customs documents for screening by Customs Officers promptly.
- Update checklists, status, and revenue reports/spreadsheets.
Requirements
- Valid Grade II Customs Clerk License.
- Certification in Procurement/Logistics will be an asset
- A minimum of five (5) Levels including Mathematics and English.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A minimum of two (3) years experience in a similar position.
- Experience in customs declaration C82/processing of entries (Import and Export)
- Must have experience clearing at Piarco, Point Lisas, and Port of Spain
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with sound interpersonal relations.
- Good team player with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Must have a working vehicle
- Must be able to work on Saturdays
