Accounting Assistant
Job Summary:
The position is generally accountable for the provision of accounting support with regards to the preparation, verification and recording of accounting transactions, statements, reports and any (internal /external) documentation for the attention of Accounts.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of Financial Statements and Reports inclusive of the Trail Balance
- Review, Verification and Posting of General Journals in relation to financial information and accounting transactions
- Verification of accounting transaction entries posted from Subsidiary ledgers and post to General Ledgers and ensure correctly recorded as per Trial Balance
- Monthly close reconciliations of subsidiary ledger accounts inclusive of Bank Reconciliations
- Assist with reviewing on a continuous basis the accounting control system
- Provision of support in relation to managing the functions of the Finance Department
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and provide support to other team members
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree (BSC) in Accounting, Finance and or Management
- CAT / ACCA Level II or currently in progress of completing ACCA Level III
- Or Other / Equivalent combination of relevant professional qualification, training and experience
Work Experience:
- Minimum of Five (5) years working experience in the capacity of Accounting and Finance
- Experience in a Supervisory position will be an asset
- Experience with Accounting and Payroll Software Packages such as Peachtree
